Photo Booth Fun | Detroit Portrait Photographer

We love portraits!
I’m not talking about the pose-y-pose-y kind that get made just after your wedding ceremony. We do recognize their importance, but we have something much more fun in mind. We’ve been quietly taking our photo booth on the road with us for the last year or so. You and your guests are encouraged to step in front of the camera and have a little fun with us. People love the photo booth so much that we have decided to make it available for non- wedding events, too. If you’d like to have us come out and make fun photos at your next party or event, email the studio for more information. We’ll have a blast!
Here are a few shots from a recent event:

Sneak Peek: Dr. Dina + Family | Ann Arbor Portrait Photographer

Garrett and I had a great time with Dr. Dina and her family on Sunday. It’s quite humbling to have clients who come back year after year, and Dr. Dina’s family portrait session has become an annual affair that we always look forward to. Thanks for the vote of confidence, Dr. D. We appreciate you so very much. Enjoy your sneak peek!

Sneak Peek: Katie’s Maternity Session | Ann Arbor Maternity Photographer

I don’t do many maternity sessions — former brides and referrals only — so I am always very excited when someone calls. It means that a past client is happy enough to come back for more, or that she has trusted me enough to refer a friend. I love that!
I was doubly excited when Katie called because she is among the rarest of all creatures: a client who has become a good friend. I’ve photographed her on more than one occasion and I absolutely can’t wait to meet her new daughter . A second generation Studio Sinead girl! Who would have imagined? Katie, it was truly an honor. Congratulations and I look forward to seeing you and your beautiful daughter very soon.

Casting Call — Ann Arbor Boudoir Photographer

Studio Sinead is looking for models!

In preparation for the launch of our new web site dedicated exclusively to boudoir photography, we are looking for four or five models to help us test new sets and lighting, as well as augment our portfolio. If selected, you will receive a complimentary professional makeup session along with a disc of images. You will be able to print the images for your personal use, but the copyright will remain with Studio Sinead. To qualify, you must:

1. Be 21 years of age or older. Proof of age will be requested.

2. Be 5’ 7” or taller, weight proportional to your height. Note: this does not mean that you have to be a size 0.

3. Have clear skin.

4. Be willing to sign a model release allowing us to use your image on the Studio Sinead website and/or blog. Please refrain from applying if this poses a problem for you. We do not want to waste your time, or ours.

Interested? Please email casting (at) studiosinead (dot) com and put the word Model in the subject line. Please be sure to include your name, age, and a daytime telephone number in your email. We will contact you with information about the date and time of the casting. Email inquiries only.

This casting call is for ladies only.

We’re looking forward to working with you.

Maternity Portraits — Ann Arbor Maternity Photographer

My new set is truly getting quite the workout.

I recently shot a maternity session for a client whose baby is due to arrive later this spring.
The mom-to-be is rocking her pregnancy old school – we won’t know the sex of the baby until she or he makes an appearance in a few weeks. (Ladies: could you stand the suspense? I’m pretty sure that I could not. You know me: I want my information as soon as it is available.)

I really wish that I could show you more pictures, because this photo session was exactly what I think maternity photography should be: hot, cool, glam, fun.

Punk Rock Bat Mitzvah Part 2: The Video

I know you haven’t forgotten these fabulous sisters! We first told you about them last fall when we met to shoot some portraits for their upcoming Bat Mitzvah. At the end of February, we met with them again to document the making of a fantastic video that will premiere on their big day. I’m not going to spoil the surprise, but I can tell you that we had an awesome time with these two girls. We also had the pleasure of working with two of our favorite videographers, Ryan and Matt from Epic Motion, and we had the opportunity to meet Lea’s musical mentor, Bruce Pooley, at Live Wire Studios where part of the video was filmed. From there, it was on to Studio A in Commerce, MI for Noa’s dance routine, which was choreographed by her teacher, Rachel.

We had so much fun and we can’t wait for their party at the Royal Oak Music Theatre in April. Andrea Solomon is planning the event, so we know it’s going to be great.

Enjoy the photos!

The E: Rachel + Dan in Birmingham (Part 2)

There were so many photos that I wanted to include in Dan and Rachel’s sneak peek, so I decided to do two posts about their fun engagement session. As you’ll see, we took full advantage of Downtown Birmingham, and of the gracious hospitality of the Townsend Hotel. If you don’t know The Townsend — you must! Drop by for tea one afternoon and take in the gorgeous surroundings. It was the perfect setting for Dan and Rachel’s portraits and we know that their wedding reception will be beautiful, too.

The E: Rachel + Dan in Troy and Birmingham (Part 1)

Dan and Rachel aren’t getting married until next February, but Rachel loves winter and wanted to make sure that she had snow in her engagement pictures. Well — as the saying goes, be careful what you wish for! We braved what may have been the last big snowstorm of the winter to photograph these two at home in Troy, at several locations Downtown Birmingham, and at the beautiful Townsend Hotel. We have so many great pictures that this sneak peek is going to require two posts — a first in Studio Sinead history! So make sure to come back for Part 2 on Thursday. We had a terrific time with Dan and Rachel, Rachel’s lovely mother, Dr. Denise, and Coco, the wonder dog. We’re definitely looking forward to their wedding next year, but we don’t mind waiting for more snow. :) We’d like to take a moment to send a huge thank you to Elaine, the mom of former Studio Sinead bride Jen Smith Waxberg, for sending Rachel our way. We’re truly touched by your vote of confidence.

Enjoy the photos!
