Sneak Peek: Dan + Rachel Part I | Detroit Wedding Photographer

I promised myself that I’d keep the blog posts short and sweet this year, but that was before I knew exactly how beautiful Dan and Rachel’s winter wedding would be. I have so many things from this wedding that I’d like to show you. There is so much, in fact, that I’m going to break this sneak peek into several parts: a first here at Studio Sinead! Let’s start with Rachel getting ready at the Townsend Hotel in Birmingham.

OK gentlemen, listen up. Dan has come up with the ultimate way to send a card to your bride on your wedding day, and he has set the bar very, very high. This card contains mementos from their dating history, going all the way back to the beginning of high school. (Note the PG movie ticket stubs. That’s how young these two were when they met.) He carefully preserved these things and included them in his very lovely hand-written note to his bride-to-be. There wasn’t a dry eye in that entire hotel suite once Rachel opened this card. In fact, I’m not quite sure how I managed to get the following photos, but they are among my favorites from the day.

Jan + Lauren: Sneak Peek

Lauren and Jan were married yesterday at Kirk in the Hills. The church is absolutely stunning and is one place in the Detroit area that I have always wanted to photograph.
The day was extra special for the couple because a number of Jan’s family members were able to make the trip from their home in Germany in order to attend the wedding.
And do note Lauren’s gorgeous birdcage veil. Don’t you love it? She made it herself! (And she’s going to tell us how she did it when she returns from her honeymoon.)
Congratulations, Jan and Lauren. We were delighted to share your wonderful day.

When Erin, an event planner who works for the fabulous W Hotels, hired me to shoot her wedding, I knew I’d be in for a treat. I was not disappointed. Erin and Drew were married yesterday at the beautiful River Birch Lodge. Everything about the venue, the details, and even the day itself was impeccable. Congratulations, Erin and Drew! Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your day.

Design Tuesday: Be Inspired

Cheryl’s wedding details were a true reflection of the bride herself: classic, simple, understated, hip. Together with her sister, Tina, Cheryl created a tasteful and elegant decor for her wedding reception Saturday night at D’Amato’s Restaurant in Royal Oak.

Working with a classic color scheme of Tiffany blue, cream, white, and chocolate brown, she was able to perfectly merge her vision with D’Amato’s casually elegant ambiance. Of particular interest: small tins of M&Ms, ordered in custom colors, which took the place of the traditional (and sometimes tired) escort cards. These were placed at each place setting and guests were greeted and escorted to their seats by the maid of honor. I thought this was a wonderfully personal touch.

The small cream hydrangea centerpieces were beautiful as well. They contributed to an elegant tablescape, while still allowing the guests to see each other during dinner. I would love it if this became a trend!

Please enjoy the inspiration board from Cheryl and Vince’s wedding. I hope to make Design Tuesday a regular Loose Talk feature.
